  • Trapped in My Living Room

We are having the floors replaced in our kitchen, hallway, powder room, mud room, and foyer. The laminate, hardwood and carpet has been removed from these areas a tile has been put down.

It's taking forever. Okay, maybe not forever, but much longer than we thought (we were initially told 5 days, we're on day 9 heading into day 10).

While all this has been going on, I've been working from home -- with the exception of three half days, my parents came to watch the workers. So I've been working from the living room, and relaxing from the living room, and pretty much spending all my time keeping me and the two dogs contained in the living room. And while the set-up may seem ideal to some (who wouldn't want a full size fridge sitting next to their TV? :-P), I'm sick of my living room. Fortunately, Chris is staying home tomorrow.

I think it's coming together nicely.

In other news. Chris started back in sort of his old role with his new company last week. He's been swamped getting things back in order and coming up to speed on what's going on.

  • No Blogging Since 4/2?

    | | Comments (1) | TrackBacks (0)

So I finally got called out for my lack of blogging. Sorry JR and thanks for checking. I can make a ton of excuses, but I won't. Just one. I'm kinda over this blogging software and want to switch again, but I haven't found the time to invest in setting something else up.

Not much exciting has happened in the last few months. We've been really busy, but with what, I don't know. Here's a brief re-cap of the highlights.

    • Saturday Cisco qualified in three runs at the TAG trial my birthday weekend. He got his first Gamblers and Standard legs. And he also got his 3rd Jumpers leg for his Starter's Jumpers title.
    • Anniversary Flowers -- Square Crop We celebrated our fourth wedding anniversary on the 22nd with dinner out. (Flower's from the "west coast parents" -- which were beautiful.)
    • Beautiful Setting Our friend Robyn (who recently moved back from AZ), had a bunch of us over last Saturday for a BBQ. (On what is probably the best weather on a memorial day we've had in I don't know how long.)
    • Granite :-)And Tuesday we had new counter tops installed. (We're getting new floors next week!)
  • Lots of Little Updates

This blog has been idle for a while so now there are a bunch of little things to write about.

We've now been in our house for a bit over two years and it's finally starting to look like a home. For our two year house anniversary, we actually hung pictures. And we've finally been putting colors up on the walls (pictures maybe coming soon -- no promises). Our great room is now orange, and while I was at the Web 2.0 Conference, Chris surprised me by painting our kitchen the yellow I had picked out and bought months before. Our latest project is our bedroom which is finally not blue. The bedroom is still in progress, but we hope to finish it up soon.

On the work front, I'm changing positions. I'm moving over to dev instead of just supporting them. Chris thinks and change is in his future, but still working where he's working, just maybe for someone else.

Last weekend, I assisted Kerry with a wedding for a couple hours in the morning. Here are a few shots from the day: weddingImages.jpg

  • Glass Cleaner

I'm probably the last person you'd expect to see blogging about cleaning. But today, that's what I'm doing.

We got our dining room set close to two years ago and had yet to put anything in our china cabinet. Why? because there was this film on the glass and mirrors that countless washings had not managed to remove.

Enter the glass cleaner recipe from my mom's old neighbor (who coincidentally was part of the longest married couple at our wedding):

    1. 1 Gallon Water
    2. 1 Pint Alcohol
    3. 1/2 cup sudsy Ammonia
    4. 1 teaspoon dishwashing liquid

Goodbye film! I can finally see through the glass! Oh and I managed to clean all the nose prints off the rest of the windows too
