All the pictures are up from Alaska. The really don't do it justice. Chris looked at them and basically said they sucked in comparison to what we saw. There is nothing like being there and seeing it with your own eyes.

  • Back From Alaska

We're back! I'm still trying to get off of Alaska time and get my thoughts and photos in order. I'll be slowly going through my pictures and getting them uploaded over the next week or so (I took way too many pictures). I'll let you know when they're all up. In the meantime, I've started a timeline on CircaVie and have added some of the video snipets I took with my camera. I'll continue to add pictures and links to slide shows as they become available as another way to document our vacation.

Chris and I spent last weekend in Orlando. Chris was down there the week before supporting the Woman in Aviation Conference. Since he was already down there and it was a long weekend, I flew down to join him.

    Legos!

I flew down early Saturday morning. The rest of Saturday was spent bumming around between trips to the conference for Chris to set up and take down the equipment. Our hotel was across the stree from Downtown Disney, so we made the first of many trips over there. The lego store was really cool. For any lego fans out there, the Ultimate Collector's Millennium Falcon™ is coming out in October. How cool is that? We also found a new artist we like. The Frogman does bronze statues of frogs and other amphibians. I'm generally not a frog loving person, but there is something about his pieces that draws me in.

    Can You See Me?

Sunday we spent at the Animal Kingdom. Last time Chris and I were in Disney it was 1996 and the animal park wasn't open yet. It's hard to believe that a.) I've known Chris that long and b.) it was that long ago that we were last down there. It was so cold on Sunday. I froze all day and was too busy looking for the perfect sweatshirt that I never got one to keep me warm. It was interesting to see the animals on the the Kilimanjaro Safari. Taking pictures in a moving vehicle isn't easy.

Sunday night we had dinner at Jiko. We'd highly recommend it to anyone going down to Orlando. It's in the Animal Kingdom lodge and requires reservations. After dinner we went back to Downtown Disney were I finally got a sweatshirt so I wouldn't freeze the next day.

Monday was spent at Epcot. We slept in. Had a leisurly lunch at the Rainforest Cafe. There is one near us, but we never go. Our meal left us wondering why.

By the time we got to Epcot, the lines for some of the rides were extremely long. The two rides Chris really wanted to go on (Test Track at Epcot and Expedition Everest at Animal Kingdom), he didn't get to do 'cause the lines were so long and he didn't want to wait. We did do Mission Space. The have two versions now, Orange more intense training and Green less intense training (no spinning). When the guy asked which one we wanted to go on, I asked how intense the spinning was. He said 35mph. So I said we'd take the orange. Mission Space is the only ride I've been on where barf bags have been provided. Eeeks! Actually it was really cool. I might even do it again someday.

We stayed at the park until the end to see the light show. Have I mentioned I love fireworks? I'm glad we stayed until the end, but I'm also glad I had my sweatshirt -- it was cold!

    Epcot At Night

Tuesday we left. Tuesday it was also warm enough to wear short sleeves -- the kind of weather I was expecting the entire time we were down in Flordia.

Special thanks to my mom and dad for coming down to stay with the boys while we got away for the weekend. We really appreciate it.

The rest of the days pretty much went like this. Wake up. Feed the dogs. Have an hour before the pestering begins. Usually put up with the pesterig until lunch. Take Cisco swimming after lunch. Go swimming with Cisco. Yell at Berkley to stop eating Maine. Bring soggy doggy up from the lake. Spend evening relaxing either reading or playing computer games.

The exception to the above was on Wednesday when we took a duck tour around portland. It was in one of those funky vehicles that works on both land and in the water. That was pretty cool.

Here are a few pics from the remainder of the trip. The last night we were in Maine the guy next door set off some fireworks. They were pretty impressive.
