  • Chris Goes to Alaska

Chris had the opportunity to go back to Alaska and see Anchorage in the winter. He was going for work so he didn't have a lot of time to do the touristy thing (all the tourists places were closed for the season anyway). He said Anchorage was very dry and even though there was a lot of snow, it was a really dry snow. The roads were packed and he had little traction in his rental Corolla. I'm glad he's home. I think he's glad too.

  • Older, Wiser, and More Mature?

    Birthday Dinner

Earlier this month I had yet another birthday. Yup, that must mean I'm older. A few friends were able to join me to celebrate the day before at Lebanese Taverna. Chris got me one of the lenses I had sitting on my wish list (there are a few). It's a macro lens. I've been having fun playing with close up shots.

I also changed jobs this month. I know you're thinking "again?" I didn't go far this time. I'm now working for the development team that I've been supporting since I joined AOL back in October. My boss changed, the location of my desk changed, but other than that I'm still working with most of the same people and doing basically the same thing (fixing bugs for now). Does this make me wiser? Probably not. But I am fortunate to be working with some very talented and very smart people. One can always hope some of that smartness might rub off on me.

    Keeping Watch

Now what about this more mature? Yeah, that ain't happening.

And for the other random updates: Cisco's first trial of the year resulted in on Q. We'll be doing a few more in June and July. Hopefully we can get some more Q's and maybe a title or two this year.

This blog has been idle for a while so now there are a bunch of little things to write about.

We've now been in our house for a bit over two years and it's finally starting to look like a home. For our two year house anniversary, we actually hung pictures. And we've finally been putting colors up on the walls (pictures maybe coming soon -- no promises). Our great room is now orange, and while I was at the Web 2.0 Conference, Chris surprised me by painting our kitchen the yellow I had picked out and bought months before. Our latest project is our bedroom which is finally not blue. The bedroom is still in progress, but we hope to finish it up soon.

On the work front, I'm changing positions. I'm moving over to dev instead of just supporting them. Chris thinks and change is in his future, but still working where he's working, just maybe for someone else.

Last weekend, I assisted Kerry with a wedding for a couple hours in the morning. Here are a few shots from the day: weddingImages.jpg

  • Hello from San Francisco

    Cable Car

My dad seems to be dropping hints that I'm behind in my blogging. Guess I should do something about that.

I'm out in San Francisco attending the Web 2.0 Expo for work. Over all the conference has been disappointing, but the experience has been great. More about the disappointment in a later post.

    My quick summary so far:

    • Flying out with Ray and Rebecca was great. I got to spend a lot of time with members of my group that I haven't had an opportunity to before.
    • I want the 10-22mm lens for my camera. Ray wanted to swing by a camera store that rents lenses to rent a couple of lenses. I had the opportunity to rent this fabulous lens and would love to add it to my collection someday.
    • People! I learned thing about a lot of people this trip. Most things were good. Unfortunately not everything was. I also had the opportunity to meet a lot of people. The experience was exhausting for this introvert, but well worth it. I met some really, really great people and got to know others a bit better.
    • San Francisco is a neat city. I'd definitely come back.
    • I still love the web! So maybe the conference wasn't what I had hoped for, but the sessions that were good were good and fueled my passion for this platorm.
